“Wow, is this the Qin Shi Huang?” “Yes, he is acted by the staff member and is playing the Legend of Meng Jiangnv.”
From June 1st to June 3rd, the 28th Meng Jiangnv Temple Fair was held in the Meng Jiangnv Temple Scenic Spot in Shanhaiguan District. Antique stories such as Three Gods (Fu, Lu, and Shou) Nafu, Antique Weddings, and Forced Marriage by Qin Shi Huang were on the stage, attracting many tourists to watch. At 8:30 in the morning, people in the scenic area were already in full swing. In the traditional folk arts, Chinese lion dance and other folk performances, actors wearing ancient costumes and cartoon costumes went on the stage one after another. Dancing with a cheerful rhythm, many tourists took selfies and photos of “crossing time and space”.
The legend of Meng Jiangnv is a household name and a national Intangible Cultural Heritage. It is one of the four ancient Chinese folk tales derived from the Great Wall culture. Since the restoration of Meng Jiangnv Temple Fair in 1991, it has been held for 27 sessions so far and is designated as April 18th of Chinese Lunar Calendar. It has become a popular folk custom in Shanhaiguan and the surrounding areas. It plays an important role in building and promoting the Shanhaiguan tourism cultural brand and the development of the “Temple-Tour City”.
