Beijing section of Beijing-Qinhuangdao Expressway and Tongzhou-Daxing section of loop high-speed surrounding the capital was recently put into use, signifying the total availability of Beijing-Hebei section of Beijing-Qinhuangdao Expressway and the sections in three counties of Tongzhou, Daxing, and Langfang in the north loop high-speed surrounding the capital.
Beijing-Qinhuangdao Expressway, going in parallel with Beijing-Harbin Expressway (G1), is a high-speed track connecting Beijing, Qinhuangdao, Shenyang, and the North-eastern part of China. It rans from the 6th ring road in Tongzhou district of Beijing (It starts from the 3.5 km from its junction with the second passage to Beijing airport, to be more precise.) at the west to Qinhuangdao at the east with the total length of 264 km, passing places like Sanhe, Jixian, Yutian and Zunhua.
Before the construction of the expressway, Beijing-Harbin Expressway (G1) was the only passage to the capital. This new expressway will serve as an important complement to the G1 expressway. It will provide people with a second option to Beijing, further connects the transportation among the north part of Tianjin, Tangshan, Qinhuangdao, and Beijing, thus preparing for the building of transportation network in the eastern part of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region and the coordinated development of regional economy and transportation.
The 166-kilometer Zunhua-Qinhuangdao section of Beijing-Qinhuangdao Expressway, which starts from Beijing-Harbin expressway, is a six-lane highway in both directions. The designed speed for tracks from starting point to Qian’an Xi is 100km/h. The speed from Qian’an Xi to Chengde-Qinhuangdao Expressway is designed to be 120km/h. The section from Beijing-Harbin Expressway to the ending point is a 4-lane two-way passage with designed speed of 80km/h.
