On October 29, the signing ceremony of the steel box girder manufacturing contract for the Shenzhen-Zhongshan river crossing project was held in Zhongshan, Guangdong province. At the ceremony, China Railway Shanhaiguan Bridge Group signed the G05 bid contract with the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Channel Management Center for the construction of steel box girder. This is another world-class bridge project signed by China Railway Shanhaiguan Bridge Group after the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.
The Shenzhen-Zhongshan river crossing project is a channel connecting the east and west sides of the Zhujiang(Pearl) River Estuary across the Lingdingyang in the estuary. It is a cluster project integrating “bridge, island, tunnel and underwater interaction” which directly connects the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone and Zhongshan City. The project is 38 kilometers away from the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, with a total length of about 24 kilometers, of which the cross-sea section is 22.39 kilometers long. It is one of the most technically difficult and most complicated construction projects in China and even the world. It is the major project of national “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan”, and the major transportation infrastructure project approved by the Zhujiang(Pearl) River Delta Planning Outline. It is also an important traffic link connecting the three major areas in the Guangdong Free Trade Zone and the two functional groups of the “Shenzhen-Dongguan-HuiZhou” and “Zhuhai-Zhongshan-Jiangmen” in the Zhujiang(Pearl) River Delta. It is a convenient passage from the east to the west of Guangdong and even the southwest of China.
It is reported that the steel structure of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge consists of the Lingdingyang Bridge, the Zhongshan Bridge, the non-navigable hole bridge over the 60-meter shoal area, the 110-meter non-navigable hole bridge, the Wanqingsha interchange bridge, with the total steel structure bridge of 270,000 tons. Among them, the G05 bid for the manufacture of steel box girder signed by China Railway Shanhaiguan Bridge Group includes: Zhongshan Bridge with a main span of 580 meters, a 9×110m approach bridge, a non-navigable hole bridge over the(18+5)×60-meter shoal area, and a Wanqingsha interchange bridge, with the total steel structure of about 92,000 tons. At the signing ceremony, the responsible person of China Railway Shanhaiguan Bridge Group made a commitment on behalf of the group: in the process of the construction, they will fully take the advantages of Zhongshan Base, organize experienced personnel, and use intelligent manufacturing equipment, to ensure the quality of the steel beam, finish it on schedule, create superior quality with technology, lead the bridge building standards with innovation, build a world-class sustainable cross-sea channel, and make the greatest contribution in building the century portal bridge for the Zhujiang(Pearl) River Estuary with the reputation of the century bridge building enterprise.
