On May 10, a fruit farmer is pruning cherry trees in the greenhouse in Shihe Town, Shanhaiguan District.
In recent years, the cherry planting has been vigorously developed in Shanhaiguan District according to the local climate and environmental characteristics with the mode of “cherry planting + picking + eco-tourism”. At present, there are nearly 40,000 mu of cherry planting in Shanhaiguan District, with more than 20 varieties such as Hongdeng, Meizao and Shamidou, the annual output of 30,000 tons, and the output value of 500 million yuan, involving more than 11000 farmers in 35 villages of 3 towns. Tourists are attracted to visit and pick the cherries every year, and the agriculture and tourism have integrated, which benefits the local farmers.
