In the yard of Yanqin Ecological Farm in Ligezhuang Village, Yanheying Town, Lulong County, Qinhuangdao City, a forklift is shoveling and loading the “hill” piled up by black scraps. Li Xiaoqin, the farm operator, stood aside with smile, because the sale would bring her the income of ten thousand yuan.

A fermentation bed shaped like the greenhouse at the southeast corner of the farm has just been cleared, and the compost was piled in the yard like a hill.
“This is the place where ‘membrane compost’ is processed,” said Li Xiaoqin, “There are 26,000 hens and more than 1,000 pigs in my farm, and they will produce 2,200 tons of livestock and poultry manure each year, which impact the surrounding environment when being exposed in the sun. Now the method of ‘membrane compost’ has achieved the harmless treatment of manure, and what’s more, it is clean.”
At present, as a national animal husbandry county, a major pig-exporting county and demonstration zone for standardized sheep breeding in Hebei province, there are 1,309 farms that will produce 230,000 tons of solid waste of livestock and poultry each year, which can be converted into 150,000 tons of bio-organic fertilizer, an increase of more than 120 million yuan in income. It has solved ecological problems, increased farmers’ income, and achieved a win-win situation for social and economic benefits.
