August 25, 2020 falls on the “100th anniversary of the founding of the original university, and the 60th anniversary of the founding of the independent university” of Yanshan University. The opening ceremony of the Northeast Asian Ancient Silk Road Civilization Museum was held on the morning that day. The museum is located on the third floor of the library of the East Campus of Yanshan University, with an overall planned exhibition area of 1,500 square meters. The Area 1 of the museum has been completed, consisting of the preface hall, paleontology fossil exhibition hall, Paleolithic exhibition hall, and Neolithic exhibition hall, with an exhibition area of 455 square meters, which fully displays the historical process and cultural relics in prehistoric period--the budding of the ancient Silk Road civilization in Northeast Asia.

Northeast Asian Ancient Silk Road Civilization Museum of Yanshan University is another landmark achievement followed by Northeast Asian Ancient Silk Road Civilization Research Center--the 1st center in China established by Yanshan University. They will work together to serve the national “One Belt One Road” initiative, the cultural construction and development in Hebei Province and Qinhuangdao City, talent training, and the construction of the “double first-class” university.

Taking its location advantage of Qinhuangdao in Northeast Asia, Yanshan University has established the only special museum at home and abroad named after the “Northeast Asian Ancient Silk Road Civilization”, which is a new high-end cultural venue to the cultural and museum undertakings of Qinhuangdao City and Hebei Province, and of great significance for maintaining the security of the border territories and promoting the inheritance and development of the excellent Chinese traditional culture.
