“We have a 10-yuan nutritional package, including millet porridge, scallion pancakes, burritos, and pickles, with balanced nutrition, it deserves you just good.” A waitress said to Lou Xiaoying, who was going to have her breakfast in the Hongtaiyang, a porridge restaurant on the Changjiang Road in the development zone,
“The posters on the wall and the signs on the table remind us to clear our plate, and do not waste food.” Lou Xiaoying said.

At the table next to her, Ding Qinsheng and his kid had just finished their meal, and a waitress came to help them pack the leftovers before they asked. “She has suggested us not to order too much food as we came in, and offered serving chopsticks, it is very nice.” Ding Qinsheng said.
Enterprises play an important role in advocating the civilized, scientific, and healthy catering and consumption concepts in the whole society. Posters and signs have been put up in the restaurants along the Yangtze River Road in the development zone. According to Liu Weiwei, manager of Hongtaiyang at Middle Changjiang Road, the officials of the market supervision department regularly deliver posters and table signs, and the waiters are trained to suggest customers not to order too much food, and take the leftovers before and after the meal.

“Now the ‘clearing your plate’ campaign has become the consensus of the public. Customers have been used to ordering proper food, and taking the leftovers, civilized dining and avoiding waste have become a new fashion.” Liu Weiwei said.
In order to advocate civilized, hygienic, and healthy dining habits, using “serving chopsticks and spoons”, and vigorously promote the “civilization on the dining table” campaign, the Civilization Office and the Health Bureau of the development zone issued proposals to catering service companies and the general public, to advocate valuing the food, launching the campaign of “civilization on the dining table”, and "clearing your plate", and cultivate thrifty habits and foster a social environment where waste is shameful and thriftiness is applaudable. Catering service companies should strengthen self-discipline and guidance, and suggest customers to take leftovers and not to waste food, so that the masses can develop rational and thrifty dining habits.
The thrift atmosphere in the development zone has become increasingly strong owing to the publicity, education and supervision.
