The Baihetan Hydropower Station ranks the second largest hydropower station in China next to the Three Gorges Hydropower Station, forming a four-level green energy cascade power station together with three other large hydropower stations on the upper and lower reaches of the Jinsha River, and another main channel for power transmission form west to east providing electricity to Central and East China. Since the end of 2019, Tianwei Baobian (Qinhuangdao) Transformer Co., Ltd. has undertaken a total of 25 main transformers for the right bank section of the Baihetan Hydropower Station, which are expected to be delivered in March 2021.

Tianwei Baobian (Qinhuangdao) Transformer Co., Ltd. has taken active and effective measures to deal with the adverse effects of the epidemic to ensure the construction of major national projects, doing a good job in epidemic prevention and control as well as production and operation.
The company strengthened overall management, closely coordinated and supervised the material supply and production schedule, rationally optimized resources, unblocked communication and feedback mechanisms, and formed a seamless connection between various departments and related production links to effectively ensure the production schedule.
In 2020, Tianwei Baobian (Qinhuangdao) Transformer Co., Ltd. has produced 65 transformers for the national clean energy projects, including the Wudongde Hydropower Station, the Baihetan Hydropower Station, the Qinghai-Henan ±800 kV UHV DC project, and the Yazhong-Nanchang ±800kV UHV DC project.

In addition to complete the production tasks in Qinhuangdao, Tianwei Baobian (Qinhuangdao) Transformer Co., Ltd. has tackled the challenges of off-site production. The “Qingyu Project” is China’s first UHV channel project designed for clean energy delivery, which can provide 40 billion kWh of clean power to Henan Province every year. The Qinghai-Henan ±800 kV UHV project has a total length of 1,582 kilometers, a voltage level of ±800 kV, and a transmission capacity of 10 million kilowatts.
Tianwei Baobian (Qinhuangdao) Transformer Co., Ltd. undertook the production of 14 converter transformers for the Hainan Converter Station in Qinghai Province. Because it is difficult to transport these large and heavy UHV converter transformers in high-altitude terrain, they conducted assembly and trial tests of 6 high-end converter transformers of ±800kV in the construction site.
More than 130 people from departments of production, quality supervision, transportation, and management headed for the Xining base, and a Party branch was established to be responsible for the organization and deployment, which plays an important role in overcoming technical problems such as product drying. In addition, they have made specific schedule, and formulated single product plan, single product daily plan, and single product hour plan, ensuring the smooth development of production tasks throughout the year.
