A few days ago, a huge paper-cut Jing Chu Da Yi Ji(Fighting against the Pandemic in Hubei Province) was created by the inheritor of monochrome paper-cut, one of the intangible cultural heritages of Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province, in honor of workers from all walks of life in fighting against the pandemic.

“The doctors are selfless, the police are fearless, and the people help each other! Officers, doctors and soldiers are all heroes in harm’s way...”, this paper-cut illustrates the determination and confidence of the people who work side by side to fight against the pandemic in this crucial time.

This paper-cut is 3 meters long and 75 cm wide, written by Jiang Yanhua, the fourth-generation inheritor of monochrome paper-cutting, and completed by Liang Hao, the fifth-generation inheritor. Based on an article entitled Jing Chu Da Yi Ji(Fighting against the Pandemic in Hubei Province) written in classical Chinese in 2020. The paper-cut took one week to design, cut, and mount. It is delicate and skillful, showing the unique charm of the ingenious combination of calligraphy and paper-cutting.

“As inheritors of paper-cutting art of intangible cultural heritage, we have the responsibility and obligation to commemorate people’s love to our homeland and their power in fighting against the pandemic.
