The minimum temperature in Qinhuangdao dropped to minus 20 degrees Celsius these days. It’s freezing outside, but Wang Hongchen and his colleagues have to wear thin protective gloves because they work on the computers.
“Sometimes we put on some heating pads on our hand to get warm, everybody is working hard to contribute to the fight against the epidemic, and this is my duty as a policeman.” said Wang Hongchen, he’s not afraid of any difficulties, he just felt sorry to his wife, “My son is only one year old, and it’s not easy for my wife, I want to be with her when everything goes well.”

43 policemen work day and night at the Beidaihe checkpoint of Beijing-Harbin Expressway, and Wang Hongchen is just one of them.
In order to do a good job in the epidemic prevention and control, the Beidaihe Public Security Branch of the Qinhuangdao Public Security Bureau launched the Beidaihe checkpoint on the Beijing-Harbin Expressway on January 9. There are 43 policemen and some medical staff, working round the clock to check the vehicles, taking passengers’ temperature, and conducting nucleic acid test.

As the head of the Beidaihe checkpoint on the Beijing-Harbin Expressway, Wang Hu worked hard together with his fellowmen, storing supplies, deploying police forces, organizing shifts, managing workers, collecting information... he had to know everything.
“I have to work outside at least 12 hours a day, and sometimes I feel very tired. As soon as I put on my uniform, I felt I have enough energy. I wake up at 11:55 every night no matter how tired I am, because I have to watch my fellowmen to do well on their duties.” Wang Hu said.
“This location is a little bit higher and there is no shelter against the wind, so the temperature is much lower than that in the downtown area. We are suffered from frostbite. Many young policemen left their young children at home, but they never complain.” said Wang Hu, his face was red with cold.
Wang Hu put off his surgery until early 2021, and he asked to fight against the epidemic despite he is still in recovery period. He said that he just wants to do something to curb the epidemic.
