Recently, Shi Lei, a famous Chinese flute player and associate professor of Sichuan Conservatory of Music, was invited by Zhang Fulin, vice chairman of the National Music Instrumental Art Committee of the Qinhuangdao Music Association, to create a new folk music piece “Feng Wu Qin Huang(Phoenix Dancing in Qinhuangdao )”, which has been premiered by the folk music troupe “Phoenix Dancing in Qinhuangdao Folk Orchestra”, and will also be performed on CCTV “Chinese Music” program.
Zhang Fulin is also a well-known photographer. He produced a music video for the “Phoenix Dancing in Qinhuangdao” with his music talent and photography skill. Zhang Fulin said that the music is bright, enthusiastic, and dynamic. He took the “slow frames” and time-lapse photography works as the video materials that were from other local photographers free of charge.
This musical composition integrates the enchanting natural and human landscapes of Qinhuangdao. Sun rises above the sea with the string music, rays of morning fall on the Great Wall with the sound of flute, lights and shadows move in the mountains with zither playing, rainbow appears above the Great Wall with lute strumming, clouds scud across the sky and gulls fly among them with double flute and Erhu trembling, and the yangko dance, ancient city market, noisy beach, waves, sunset, evening glows, port lanterns, the meteors flying over the Great Wall and the rotating Milky Way come with orchestral music.
The music and video amplified each other, bringing the audience a memorable audio-visual feast. Zhang Fulin said that it will be on CCTV “Chinese Music” program, so that more people will see the beauty of Qinhuangdao’s music and scenery.
