As the summer is approaching, Beigang Town, Haigang District, Qinhuangdao City has issued more than 1,500 copies of “A Letter from Beigang Town Government to Parents on Protecting Teenagers from Drowning” to 6 schools, aiming to arouse the awareness of students and their parents to prevent drowning, improve their safety precautions, and prevent drowning accidents.
In the letter they focused on the publicity and explanation of the reasons for the frequent trend of drowning in rural areas, as well as the basic knowledge of prevention of drowning such as how to rescue oneself in an emergency while swimming, and first aid for drowning. Children are not allowed to swim or fish without their parents’ permission. The purpose of this letter is to arouse the awareness of drowning prevention of the public, especially the teenagers, and the ability to recognize dangerous situations and self-rescue.
Beigang Town has taken a various measures to prevent drowning, carried out carpet inspections in various villages, investigated on rivers, reservoirs and other areas prone to drowning accidents, set warning signs and posters, and promoted anti-drowning knowledge through WeChat public account and WeChat groups.
