On September 2, the green fruits shone in the autumn sun, and Chang Jinling was live streaming in a corridor in her tara vine orchard at the foot of Guihu Mountain, Fange Beizhuang Village, Liushouying Town, Funing District.
Chang got orders online, and the workers picked, packaged and delivered the tara vines.
Workers are busy picking tara vines.
A girl born in 1990s established the planting cooperatives
In 2017, Chang Jinling’s father, Chang Jimin quit his job and returned home, contracting 200 mu of land and established the planting cooperatives to engage in large-scale characteristic agriculture, as the founder of the cooperatives, Chang Jinling decided to grow tara vines and shiny leaf yellow horns. “It’s not a spur-of-the-moment decision. I have investigated the market.” Chang Jinling said with a smile.
Chang Jinling got the support of her parents, and she introduced tara vine and shiny leaf yellow horn from Northeast China in 2019.
The tara vines were cultivated from wild kiwi fruits growing on mountainous areas of Northeast China, and popular among consumers in these days.
The mature season is from August to October, and the fruit has strong cold resistance.
The climate of Qinhuangdao is similar to that of Northeast China, in addition, the sunlight, ventilation and drainage characteristics are good for the fruit quality.
But it’s hard to manage and the cost is high, they have invested more than 3 million yuan.
Appealing new fruit
“Welcome! help yourself with some tara vines!” said Chang Jinling. She added that compared with the traditional kiwi, the tara vines have smooth and thin skin, looking like big green jujubes, they are juicy and sweet, with fruit aroma.
“They contain higher amino acids and vitamin C than that of ordinary fruits, the ripped ones are like jelly and especially good for the elderly and children.” She picked a fruit and said.
The tara vines look like big green jujubes.
They have got bunch of orders since the sales season begins. Every day Chang Jinling is busy picking, delivering, and receiving tourists, and she has done all the work well.
They have engaged in planting tara vines for three years, with the yield of over 10,000 kg, and at the price of 70 yuan per kilogram, it is a bumper harvest, and next year will be even better. Chang Jinling is satisfied with her decision.
The girl has a bigger dream
Fangezhuang Village is located at the junction of Changli county and Funing district, divided into Fangenan Village and Fangebei Village, which can be traced back to the reign of Emperor Yongle of the Ming Dynasty.
Chang Jimin said that the Guishan and Hushan Mountains are famous here, and there are temple ruins on Guishan Mountain, with characters “Rebuilt in August in the 14th year of Emperor Qianlong” and the names of the donors engraved on the cave; there are natural stone cracked well and stone grinder on Hushan Mountain, and folk legends about them.
Chang Jinling has a bolder plan, she would like to turn the 200 mu of hillside land into a place rich in natural resources, combining modern ecological agriculture with historical relics and legends of the mountains, embarking on the way of common prosperity with the new model of “picking + tourism + culture, tourism and leisure” and characteristic industries and culture.
