Our reporter Wang Hongli recently learned from the Qinhuangdao Bureau of Religious Affairs that a research project application under the title of Collaborative Documentation and Research on Qinhuangdao Buddhist Stone Inscriptions, presided by Dr. Dong Shaowei at Northeastern University in Qinhuagndao, was officially approved. It is the first collaborative project with our city.
It is informed that the municipal government and the Northeastern University at Qinhuagndao signed a strategic cooperation agreement in last July. According to it, both sides will carry out strategic cooperation in the fields of scientific and technological innovation, urban construction, social services, education and school running, and talent training. This cooperation is expected to improve the comprehensive strength of education the university and its ability to serve its economic and social development on one hand, and on the other hand elevate the innovation capability of the city in an all-round way. The two sides also agreed to strengthen their cooperation in health and elderly services, smart city construction, eco city construction, cultural tourism construction, and innovative city construction.
This project, presided by Dr. Dong Shaowei, is the first collaborative project with our city since the signing of the cooperative agreement. It aims to carry forward the traditional culture, protect the relics of its Buddhist sites, and display the regional cultural characteristics in Qinhuangdao. It will produce research reports and monograph on preserving historical documents, which can be used as suggestions for the municipal government. Its final purpose is to promote the creative transformation and innovative development of Chinese excellent traditional culture.
In the next two years, his research team will investigate the Buddhist temples and sites in Qinhuangdao and carry out a comprehensive and systematic study on the documents of the Buddhist stone inscriptions in our city.
