It is reported that the mulberry trees have been planted in Jiuxian Village for nearly 100 years. There are nearly 3,000 mulberry trees in the village. From mid-May to mid-June, a large number of mulberries have ripened and are sold to other counties of Qinhuangdao, Tangshan City and the regions of Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang provinces, which not only benefits the farmers, but also bring new development opportunities to the rural tourism of Jiuxian Village.
The “1st Tu’er Hill Mulberry Picking Tourism Culture Festival” was hosted by Funing District Party Committee and the District Government, aiming to publicize Funing’s tourism resources, promote the brand of “Hometown of Flowers and Fruits”, and attract tourists to Funing, taking advantage of the traditional mulberry characteristics of Jiuxian Village, so as to promote the rich natural and humanistic tourism resources of Funing, improve the integration of agriculture and tourism, the combination of culture and tourism, and make the “small industry” of mulberry become a “big industry” to enrich the people, and boost the new business card of eco-tourism and characteristic agriculture of Funing District.
The festival, which will last for one month until June 25, is divided into six sections: mulberry tasting, mulberry appreciation, mulberry tour, mulberry picking, snack tasting and happy cycling, all of which are open to tourists free of charge. Tourists can enhance the understanding of Funing tourism culture while picking and tasting delicious mulberries.
