On the occasion of the 9th “World Seafarers’ Day”, the theme publicity activities, such as expressing greetings, holiday theme cruises, and maritime services to the people, were carried out by the sea patrol boats, maritime staff, and volunteers, organized by Qinhuangdao Maritime Safety Bureau, to celebrated the festival together with the seafarers.
During the activities, the primary school students from Haigang District of Qinhuangdao City, together with the maritime staff, came to the receiving window of the ship and marine affairs administration, and presented the holiday cards and handwritten newspapers made by the children to the seafarers in the harbor to convey the social care and best wishes to the seafarers. Hanging flags and festival banners made by the staff, the sea patrol boats carried out theme cruising activities to the anchor of the port and the work area, to pay high tribute to the seafarers sticking to the front line during the festival; the maritime staff and volunteers publicized the protection of seafarers’ rights and interests and the safety laws and regulations on water safety by sending maritime affairs consultation services to seafarers and delivering holiday leaflets in public places, and called on enterprises and society to pay attention to seafarer group, and safeguard the rights and interests of seafarers.
“By the end of 2018, the number of seafarers registered in China has been 738,000, ranking first in the world.” said Shi Lipo, deputy director of the Qinhuangdao Maritime Safety Bureau. Qinhuangdao Maritime Safety Bureau will further promote publicity based on network technology and new media platforms to further strengthen publicity and promotion, improve the “Xiaoyue Maritime Government Hotline”, and increase services for the convenience of people within the scope permitted by laws and regulations for better serving and caring about seafarers.
